Hotel Description

Established in 2002 by the owners, Sylvie and Jean Pierre, Lodge des Collines de Niassam has been lovingly created to blend in with the natural beauty of the landscape, whilst ensuring that guests are comfortably accommodated in any of the unique, individually designed rooms.

Guests can relive a childhood dream, sleeping in one of the tree houses set in a majestic baobab tree; built over 3 levels, you can sit on your own private terrace, taking in the spectacular views or while away time in your own hammock. In one of the stilted water lodges, you can wake to the sound of the gently lapping lagoon beneath and enjoy unspoilt views across the water from the large windows and private decking area. Or choose one of the stylish lodges in the grounds with their wooden and straw roofs, cut out windows, carved wooden furniture and colourful furnishings.

For families, larger rooms are available sleeping up to 5 people or you can choose a tree house with an additional loft for a third person, or with a Berber tent where the children can enjoy their own adventure.

The Lodge is run on solar energy, which provides a continuous supply of electricity, although there is no air-conditioning.  Water is heated up throughout the day, providing warm showers in the evening.  Hot water can be brought to your room for your morning wash.

Meals are enjoyed in the restaurant with its open veranda, enabling wonderful views of the setting sun. With Sylvie’s influence in the kitchen, guests are ensured cuisine of a high standard, taking advantage of the local, fresh produce.

The emphasis is on peace and tranquillity at Les Collines, but there are also plenty of optional activities to keep you occupied, including river rides in a pirogue, fishing trips, or bush walks taking in the birdlife. Sylvie and Jean Pierre are also keen for guests to take in the local culture so will ensure you can visit the local markets, enjoy a traditional Senegalese wrestling match, join in any village festivities or even just see the local women collecting salt in the nearby salt wells. To enjoy these sights from a different angle, you can even take a flight in a microlight!
