Drive across the salty, sandy areas known as “tanns” to the fishing village of Djiffer, the entrance of the Saloum Delta National Park. In a traditional pirogue explore the mangroves and ‘bolongs’ (waterways) where you can see oysters and wood collectors as well as numerous birds. See the burial mounds made out of heaps of seashells. Enjoy a grilled fish lunch and take a swim on a deserted beach on the island of Sangomar. On the way back by 4x4 vehicle, stop at the salt wells of Palmarin. Follow bush tracks and through family owned properties set in a palm tree and baobab forest.
